[You know what's a good time, Eda? When you have a random, chonky raccoon scratching on your door. He has a little saddlebag around his sides, and should she open the door to him, he'll rummage around in it and pull out a vial of what looks to be an exact replica of her elixir. With his free paw he holds up one little claw-finger in a wait a minute gesture, before reaching into the bag again, chittering to himself, finally pulling out a piece of paper- holding that out too. On the paper is a note: ]
Hi Eda. Hope Ruddiger found you okay. Here's a vial of elixir for you. I'll work on getting more for you ASAP, so you don't have to worry about running out. And if you want to learn how to make them, I can help with that too- whichever you're happier with. Hope you're resting up!
Varian
[The raccoon is just gonna sit there patiently, looking up at her expectantly. He's honestly just glad he's not carting stupid love letters back and forth between his dumb human and the battle girl for a change. ]
[On Christmas Day, Eda will find a wrapped present at her door. Inside is a pile of science books. So many science books. Along with them is a note: ]
Merry Christmas, Eda. This is an Earth holiday when you give the people you care about presents. So I'm giving unto you the gift of knowledge! Don't spend it all at once!
[Eda will find a poorly wrapped gift for her sitting out on table in the living room. There's a small note attached, saying "thanks for letting me live here".
Inside is a hair dryer, which Margot assumes is a body warmer.]
[ Eda finds it later that day, unwraps it, and stares down at the hairdryer.
She's pretty sure she knows what it is.
She heads up to Margot's room, knocking on the door with a bemused look on her face. Luz keeps getting on her about her not washing her hair, and now this! ] Luz put you up to this, didn't she?
[On the 25th Eda will find a gift has been left outside her door! According to the tag it's from Fern, and inside the meticulously wrapped package is a a slightly creepy owl carved out of bone.
thanks, kiddo. this little owl will get a place of honor. hope owlbert doesn't get jealous!
i got something for you too. owlbert will bring it by. the zombies don't want to hurt him.
[ She totally didn't get something for him, but she likes Fern and so she pulls something together.
A day later, Owlbert taps on Fern's window with a lumpy bundle in his talons. When Fern opens it up, he'll find a knitted hat, in much the same shape as the hat that Fern usually wears, but it's blue, that's enchanted to keep him extra warm. ]
[So thanks to both Lysithea and Mako, Luz was now understanding of how much her mentor mom likes cake. She takes the whole day to make Eda Dominican Cake which she definitely made sure to send Eda out of the house while she baked it herself! For good measure she also makes gingerbread cookies shaped like owls and brooms, with chocolate milk as a side. Not Luz's most sustainable gift, but certainly a delicious one!]
Merry-- [ Eda stamps off snow, pulling off her winter gear as she gets back home from a day of fighting zombies and trying to make sales, although nobody's out because, ya know, the zombies.
She stares at the cake, and the cookies, and the milk, and is a little dumbstruck.
Maybe this Christmas thing isn't so bad. ] That cake for me?
( a few days after their conversations hecate requests a favour of morgana, sending the cat close enough to eda's place, her familiar walking the rest of the way up to the house, prowling around outside, trying to look for an open window to jump up into the house through. this kitty's here to be nosy )
[ The house is spelled to only let in people Eda knows, but the backroom is open, probably left open by Margot who was doing some gardening, trying to grow flowers even though it's the wrong season for them.
The backdoor leads her into the kitchen, which is bright with the January light from outside, and Eda's there, cooking something over the stove that smells maybe a little weird. She's eccentric, to say the least. She has on her usual red outfit, with an apron over the top, and hums something like pop music under her breath. ]
( she hates that she's using this device, not even massively fond of the maglets nevermind a nonmagical thing. but it was how eda had contacted her initially and she doesn't know the woman's magic too well to contact her any other way )
Well met, Eda. I was hoping to speak with you before I began Miss Noceda's lessons.
Figuring out how to get back to the beach? That's another thing. But eventually Eda manages it, and she's skimming along the sand, looking for Luz. ]
Luz! Luz! Where are ya, kid? If you die on me, I won't forgive you! I'll eat all the cake in the house myself! I'll tell Teach that you're cutting class! I'll give Margot your cloak!
[ What other things would Luz hate? Is this a healthy thing to be doing? No. But it's how Eda is processing Luz being hurt and Eda not being able to help her immediately. ]
[Eda will find a pink heart-shaped card and some two boxes of candy. The card is addressed to both Eda and Luz, and has a bad drawing of Margot, Luz, and Eda together. You can thank Luz for inspiring the attempt at artwork.
The card says:
"Thank you for being a better family than I could ever hope for.
[ Eda finds the box and reads the card, bemused. ]
Maybe this holiday is a bigger deal than I thought.
[ Seeing as she's gotten three gifts.
That night, she'll gather Margot and Luz and cook a big meal for the three of them. She won't say it's for Valentine's Day, but it's for Valentine's Day ]
[Eda will get a BIG red and black box of Valentine chocolate candies with a drawing of a happy anime Luz saying, "To the best mentor in the world, I love you lots! Happy Valentine's Day!"]
[ The next time Eda sees Luz, she'll pat her on the shoulder and say, voice low: ]
Love you too, kiddo.
[ That night, she'll gather Margot and Luz and cook a big meal for the three of them. She won't say it's for Valentine's Day, but it's for Valentine's Day ]
[Stan wavers a lot over whether or not to say anything at all to Eda about Luz swinging by, but...ultimately, he decides to just go for it. It was a nice gesture on her part, so the least he could do is say so.]
EDA!
HEY UH. THANKS FOR SENDING YOUR INTERN OVER LAST WEEK - SHE'S A REAL GOOD KID BUT YOU PROLLY KNOW THAT ALREADY
[There. Did it. Now he doesn't have to send any sincere messages for the next decade.]
[ Who is this? Why does she keep getting texts from people she doesn't know? These usernames, people!
She stares at it for a few minutes, and finally thinks she has some idea. Only one person calls Luz her intern. But she has no idea what he's talking about. ]
Deliverly in the 1st week of November
Hi Eda. Hope Ruddiger found you okay. Here's a vial of elixir for you. I'll work on getting more for you ASAP, so you don't have to worry about running out. And if you want to learn how to make them, I can help with that too- whichever you're happier with.

She's not really that surprised about the raccoon. Her best friend is a dog-cat-demon, after all. ]
Uh... thanks.
[ When Ruddiger doesn't move, she groans and looks around in her house for a pen. She scrawls messily on the back of the note: ]
He found me.
Teach me. When I can think again.
Thanks.
Eda
Here you go. [ She holds the note out for Ruddiger. ] Uh. Thanks. I don't really have anything for you. Unless...
[ She crouches down and offers him a hand for pets. ]
